Well I dont know where u live but in Salisbary NC (I prolly spelled it wrong) theres this place called Ruby's and its got alot of nice prom dresses and its not that bad with the prices. I dont know if they have a website or not.

We don't have proms in the UK but we know what they are. This is boring but go for comfort. Choose shoes which are comfortable - I imagine there will be dancing? Dress-wise something slim-cut and perhaps tailored will make the most of your height, the bouffant skirt look may be appealing to you but it makes women look shorter. If you have slim legs why not make the most of them and wear a dress cut just above the knee. Sling-back shoes perhaps - they make legs longer? I think a dark green taffeta dress would look fabulous. Something which allows you to wear a bra - yes - (it's a pain fishing around in your bodice on a night out!) maybe a slim column type straight-up-and-down dress (darted bodice), above the knee, not too low cut, with straps. Go for elegant. Never fails.

I'm a thirty-something lawyer in London so I guess I'm not the best person to advise but I hope this helps!

Hey honestly why dont you just hit up a few shops with a friend or your mam and try on everything..try on dresses that you would never think of trying on...theres no point people leaving suggestions on here because what we suggest might be the wrong thing totally..you never know it could be the one dress that you werent sure about trying on thats perfect on you..have fun..try on everything..the more you try on aswell the more youl find out yourself what suits you!!

My prom date was built much as you describe yourself. She found a Kelly green satin knee length dress with a scooped neckline, and cap sleeves. and full length gloves, She wore a black velvet ribbon in her hair with a crystal brooch black satin pumps and matching bag.

She looked great, but most importantly when I look at the pictures almost 20 years later the pictures don't look dated or silly. Remember that this is one of those times that you want to look classic.
